Tecogen Sells Two Recently Launched InVerde e+ CHPs

When Tecogen (TGEN – $4.02) launched its revolutionary InVerde e+ Combined Heat and Power (CHP) unit, we wrote that it would be a natural fit for building managers looking for a hassle-free, economic, and environmentally friendly solution to their heating and power needs. Exactly two weeks later, the first sale, worth approximately half a million dollars, is already made.

Two 100kW units will be installed in a new mixed-income residential development in Brooklyn, NY. Both units will be equipped with the Company’s proprietary Ultera near-zero emissions control technology.

A Work of Art

The new InVerde e+ combines the best technologies in the field, along with a unique set of proprietary innovations by the Tecogen team.

Thanks to its cutting edge inverter technology, an innovative power control, and a new and improved engine, the InVerde e+ reaches an electrical efficiency of 34%, while its nearest competitor achieves efficiencies between 27 and 29 percent.

The DC input capability, facilitating battery or solar array integration, is another huge innovation. It allows for a seamless transfer of energy between the CHP, other energy generators, such as solar panels, windmills, and backup batteries, eliminating the need for costly additional electrical integration equipment. This way, the CHP basically becomes a complete Building Energy Management System. We’re not aware of any CHP competitor having this feature.

Moreover, the new units automatically start up within 10 seconds in the event of a full blackout of the grid, making the CHPs compliant with the National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) new strict 110 standard for emergency and standby power systems. This is yet another innovation that very few competitors offer.

Conclusion

The InVerde e+ model offers superior electrical efficiency, emergency blackstart backup power, seamless grid interconnection, and near-zero emissions of harmful criteria pollutants (NOx and CO). The combination of all these qualities truly make the CHP stand out from its competition.

The Brooklyn property will enjoy enhanced energy savings and building resilience, all while cutting its carbon footprint in half (when compared to traditional equipment solutions).

It’s great to see that customers immediately recognize the various features and benefits of the new CHP. We’re convinced that the InVerde e+ will become a solid contributor to Tecogen’s results. Buy recommendation.
